Main Character Syndrome is a terrible thing and it feels like the condition is spreading. Every day you meet people who consider themselves the most important person in the world, with everyone else at best extras in their story or, worse, hogging a spotlight that’s rightfully theirs.
For today’s prime example, take a look at this jaw-droppingly self-centered TikToker. “Sholly848” was recently proposed to and her fiance even went above and beyond, setting up some scenery in a public park. Now check this video out and try to figure out what about it could possibly make someone upset:
Romantic and touching right, anyone would be happy to be proposed to like this. But wait! What’s that at the 16 second mark? It’s *gasp* a family walking past! Day officially RUINED.
I’m not kidding. This is the outrageously egotistical reaction video she later posted:
“If you are the family right there that’s walking up to MY proposal heart as I’m about to get engaged and you pick up your kid and you take a selfie and take your leisurely time doing so, and we’re just standing there waiting patiently for you to be done. That is SO rude. You didn’t even say anything!”
“Note for your next proposal because based on this response… you’ll have another one…”
Reality check time, you are in a public park, during sunset, with a scenic view of the city. Nobody needs to clear out of the way so you can enjoy your special moment, and that family had every right to walk past whenever they wanted. If you wanted a proposal without the rest of the world being around, then rent somewhere private!
Also, these random people didn’t ruin your proposal, you did that all on your own! Almost half a million people have seen your self-centered moaning, so now, every time you look back on what should be one of the happiest moments of your life, all that will be tangled up with TikTok collectively deciding you’re one of the most entitled people on the planet.
The comments are about what you’d expect: “A public park isn’t your studio, “Let’s all remember we don’t own public spaces” and “First lesson in life, the world does not revolve around you.” But the most cutting was surely:
“Note for your next proposal because based on this response… you’ll have another one…. GET ENGAGED IN PRIVATE.”
Sholly848 responded “Ur so cool”. Only to get the response: “I absolutely am because I don’t expect the world to stop for me :)” I mean ouch, that kind of says it all.
Whatever else happens we’re definitely following Sholly848 as when this wedding does happen, it seems certain we’re going to see a truly terrifying Bridezilla on the rampage.
