Topher Grace has signed on to Casper Kelly’s new horror thriller Buddy, alongside The Penguin star Cristin Milioti.
In what is quickly becoming a long list of comedy writers and producers who turn their focus to the horror genre, Kelly’s previous projects include co-creating the Adult Swim television show Your Pretty Face is Going to Hell and the mind-bending eleven-minute masterpiece Too Many Cooks.
It seems like ever since Jordan Peele made the leap from sketch comedy television to creating what will no doubt be looked at as a historic piece of film with Get Out, many other artists have started to do the same. Zach Cregger (Whitest Kids U’Know) made one of the best films in 2022 with Barbarian and the Australian YouTube legends Danny and Michael Philippou released Talk to Me the same year and their sophomore film, Bring Her Back, came out earlier in 2025.
Topher Grace has taken a similar route to change his image from the laid-back, soft-spoken Eric on his hit TV show, That ‘70s Show, to acting in more dramatic projects like Predators, Heretic, and Flight Risk. This year, Grace co-starred in the Netflix crime drama The Waterfront, written by Kevin Williamson (Scream) and next he is appearing in the A24 thriller Huntington with Glen Powell and Margaret Qualley.
Production for Buddy is currently rolling in Ohio, and while plot details are being kept under wraps, the film is being described as a “new experience in horror.” A phrase that seemingly every new horror film crowns itself with.
BoulderLight Pictures, who recently produced Companion, Friendship, and Zach Cregger’s upcoming horror film Weapons, is producing along with Ohio-based production company Low Spark Films (Emily the Criminal and Take Shelter), who are co-financing the project.
