Deepika Padukone is no longer a part of two of the biggest upcoming films starring Pan-India superstar Prabhas. It has been officially confirmed that the actress has exited both the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD and the highly anticipated Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial, Spirit.
This double exit has sent shockwaves among fans and raises major questions about the future of these huge projects. The news regarding Kalki came directly from the production house, Vyjayanthi Movies.
The Official Kalki Announcement
In a brief but direct post on Thursday, the production house made it clear that the decision was mutual. “This is to officially announce that @deepikapadukone will not be a part of the upcoming sequel of #Kalki2898AD,” the statement began.
Giving a hint about the reason, the makers added, “After careful consideration, We have decided to part ways. Despite the long journey of making the first film, we were unable to find a partnership.” The message ended with, “We wish her the best with her future works.”
Not Just Kalki, But Spirit Too
Adding another layer to this shocking news, it is now confirmed that Kalki 2898 AD is the second Prabhas-starrer that Deepika has exited. The actress is also no longer the female lead in Spirit, a high-voltage cop-thriller directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
Sources confirm that Deepika left the Spirit project due to creative differences and contract issues. The makers have already found her replacement, and rising star Triptii Dimri has been roped in to star opposite Prabhas. Spirit is scheduled to begin filming in September 2025.
