YRF’s High-Octane Action Thriller to Redefine Big-Screen Experience in Dolby Vision and Atmos
In a major leap for Indian cinema, War 2 is set to become the first-ever Indian film to release in Dolby Cinema across several global markets, including a historic launch in India. Yash Raj Films (YRF) and Dolby Laboratories have confirmed that the Hrithik Roshan and NTR Jr.-led action spectacle will hit Dolby Cinema screens worldwide on August 14, 2025.
This groundbreaking move marks a technological milestone for the Indian film industry, signaling the arrival of Indian titles in the premium cinema format used for some of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters. War 2 will release in both Hindi and Telugu languages across Dolby Cinema locations in India, North America, United Kingdom, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and more.
First Dolby Cinema Launch in India
Indian audiences will be able to experience War 2 in Dolby Cinema for the first time at City Pride Multiplexes in Kharadi, Pune, which launched India’s debut Dolby Cinema screen earlier this month. Additional locations are planned in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Trichy, Kochi, and Ulikkal.
Speaking on this achievement, Michael Archer, Vice President of Worldwide Cinema Sales and Partner Management at Dolby Laboratories, said,
“Our collaboration with Yash Raj Films spans over decades with many milestones. We’re proud to take that legacy forward with War 2 (Hindi & Telugu) that will be available at Dolby Cinema in India and internationally from August 14th. It is also the first Indian movie to debut at Dolby Cinema in India. Dolby Cinema delivers an unmatched moviegoing experience with stunning visuals in Dolby Vision and immersive sound of Dolby Atmos, all in an environment built to make audiences feel the full power of storytelling. This is a landmark moment not just for our collaboration, but for how cinema will now be experienced in India.”
YRF and Dolby: A Legacy of Innovation
This announcement adds to the long-standing relationship between YRF and Dolby, which began as early as 1995 when Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge released with Dolby Audio. In 2013, YRF’s Dhoom: 3 was among the earliest Bollywood titles to utilize Dolby Atmos, pushing the envelope for immersive sound. In 2020, YRF became India’s first music label to offer Dolby Atmos Music through a specially curated album, Best of YRF.
Rohan Malhotra, Vice President of Distribution at Yash Raj Films, commented,
“YRF has always believed in pushing boundaries to deliver the most enriching cinematic experiences to its audiences. From embracing Dolby Audio in the 90s to pioneering Dolby Atmos in our blockbusters – and now, leading the way with Dolby Cinema, we remain committed to storytelling that doesn’t just entertain, but transports you into the story. With War 2, we’re excited to bring audiences into a new era of movie experience, one where every scene is more vivid in Dolby Vision, every sound more immersive with Dolby Atmos, and the theatrical experience more unforgettable than ever before at Dolby Cinema.”
About War 2 and the YRF Spy Universe
Directed by Ayan Mukerji, War 2 continues the narrative of YRF’s expanding spy universe, featuring Hrithik Roshan reprising his role as Kabir alongside South superstar NTR Jr. The film follows the massive box office success of War (2019), and is among the most anticipated releases of 2025.
With Dolby Vision’s ultra-vivid visuals and Dolby Atmos’ multidimensional sound, War 2 promises an unmatched cinematic ride. The release also positions India’s entertainment industry firmly on the map of global premium cinema experiences.
