MANILA, Philippines—Gilas Pilipinas will have roughly three months apart before regrouping for its next assignment.
Following the Philippines’ quarterfinal run in the 2025 Fiba Asia Cup, where it fell to Australia, the Gilas cagers will now either rest or return to their respective teams.

PBA players will prepare for the league’s 50th season in October, while overseas-based guards and forwards head back to Japan and Korea for their B.League and KBL stints.
By November, coach Tim Cone and company will shift focus to the 2027 Fiba World Cup Asian Qualifiers.
The Philippines is in Pool A with Australia, New Zealand and Guam, and will play five windows from November to March 2027 for a spot in the global showpiece.

The campaign begins November 28 against Guam, led by reigning PBA Finals MVP Jericho Cruz. Gilas will face Guam twice in the first window before resuming play in February 2026.

Before the qualifiers, Gilas will see action in the 2025 Southeast Asian Games in December in Thailand.
There will be a slight change of scenery for that event as coach Norman Black will be the one to call the shots for that competition and not Cone.
Roster composition remains uncertain due to possible conflicts with the PBA calendar and ongoing developments, including Quentin Millora-Brown’s potential change from naturalized to local status.
